"Without the intervention of It's a People Business, I do not believe we would have found such a great candidate for our business"
Introduction
Ipswich Glass are a family run, independent glass manufacturer of high-quality glass products.
The team were going through some significant internal changes with both staff members and systems, and initially needed to hire an individual who could manage administrative tasks for the office and production floor.
"I was keen to work with a recruitment partner who could work quietly in the background and not impact the day to day running of my business"
Ipswich Glass were introduced to Claire of It's a People Business, via a mutual business connection.
Why Ipswich Glass chose It's a People Business
Claire was able to demonstrate her in depth knowledge of Job Description crafting, something which Ipswich Glass had not previously had to do, and suggest methods to encourage the right candidates to apply for the role.
"During my call with Claire, we discussed what 'behavioural type' the ideal person may posses. Once identified, Claire suggested using particular words or language throughout the job description which would appeal to the candidates that showcase the behavioural type identified - genius!"
It's a People Business also offer a fixed-fee recruitment solution, which allowed Ipswich Glass to comfortably budget for the new staff member.
"Knowing in advance how much this process would cost was a big win in my eyes, it allowed us to budget for the onboarding with more precision, as opposed to the unknown 'percentage of salary' most recruitment agencies charge."
How 'It's a People Business' Responded
It's a People Business began advertising for the role. As standard, It's a People Business advertise in multiple spaces online, and had a good balance of candidates apply. However, after a few unsuccessful interviews, Claire wanted to go back to the drawing board, and made contact with Steve to discuss what the future of the candidate could look like long term for the right person.
It was established that Steve would possibly have a requirement for a General Manager within the next 2-5years. This changed the approach in which Claire took, and she made appropriate changes to the job specification and advertising accordingly.
The Results
After the relevant changes were made, a fantastic candidate was found. They had recently located to the Ipswich area, and had a solid production management background. After successful self-booked interviews and a behavioural assessment, Claire submitted a candidate that not only fulfilled a current need within the business, but who also showed great potential for a senior role in the future.
"Claire took the time to truly understand the business goals, and without her willingness to intervene part way through the process, I am sure we would not have found such an outstanding candidate for the business"
The candidate made a start on the first working day of 2023, and is settling in well into their new role as Production Manager.
